Design and development of a simulation is a tedious, complex process. Choose a focused and attainable reality. Use graphical metaphors and/or photographs to enhance realism and authenticity. Clearly define student tasks and expectations. Provide instructions for how to work within the simulated environment. Remember that failure creates teachable moments and helps students internalize concepts. Provide opportunities to explore, do, fail, experiment and/or practice.
